WHAT IS MICROBLADING?
It is a semi-permanent brow tattoo, using a disposable needle to mimic hair strokes to create a defined or natural brow to enhance the natural features on your face. This process is known as microblading or brow feathering. To achieve this look the tiny sterile needle implants colour micro-pigment beneath the surface of the skin.
PLEASE NOTE: The microblading method is designed to blend with your natural brow hair, the more hair you have the more realistic results will appear. If you have very little to sparse eyebrow hair, results will appear more 2D, and it is possible that you may need more than two sessions to achieve your desired result. Microblading is not meant to entirely replace makeup. Eyebrow pencils and powders may still be needed.
DOES IT HURT?
It’s hard to say, as everyone’s tolerance and sensitivity is different, but to ensure comfort during the procedure a topical numbing cream with 5% lidocaine will be applied prior to procedure. Clients have related the feeling of the procedure as scratching or threading.
HOW LONG DOES A MICROBLADING TREATMENT TAKE?
Step 1. Initial procedure takes 2.5hrs. During this time a consultation is done, we discuss shape and colour. We pre-draw and outline your brows. It is rare someone would have a symmetrical face, but I will try my very best to create symmetry. As we say BROWS ARE SISTERS, NOT TWINS. Once pre-draw is approved, I will trace the outline with a surgical marker and apply a semi-permanent pigment with a disposable microblading hand tool.
Step 2. TOUCH UP appointment. The touch up takes 1-1.5hrs. Touch ups are done approximately 6 weeks of your initial procedure and no later than 10 weeks. It is very important to complete the 2nd session as colour will fade significantly within 4 weeks as skin heals, peels and fades. The touch up corrects any irregularities in the microbladed hair strokes, colour tones and finishes the process.
WHAT WILL MY HEALED BROW TATTOO LOOK LIKE?
Every skin type is different and generates differently, therefore everyone’s healing process is different. Lifestyle and long term aftercare of the new tattoo will result in the outcome of your brows. After 6-8 weeks when it is healed, the colour will fade by 30-50%. Lightness and patchiness can be perfected during your second session.
HOW LONG WILL THE FINAL RESULTS LAST?
The pigment used is semi-permanent and will last between 1-2 years. After 12 months the pigment will fade. Lifestyle, skin type and exposure to the sun also plays a factor to the healing process. Clients with oiler skin types tend to fade quicker than drier skin types. To maintain your brows it is suggested to get a touch up every 12-24 months maximum.
CAN I GET TATTOOED IF I’M ON ACCUTANE?
If you are on Accutane, I cannot tattoo you. Accutane can put you at risk, such as scarring, hypersensitivity and hyperpigmentation. Your skin needs to normalize 12 months prior to tattoo
CAN I GET TATTOOED WHILE I’M PREGNANT?
In case of infection. I will not perform the procedure.
HOW MANY TREATMENTS ARE NEEDED?
Second sessions are usually required to perfect the brows. You can make an appointment for a touch up 6-8 weeks after your first visit. Clients with fuller brows may not need touch ups, although clients with little to no hair may need to add density or corrected work.
WILL MICROBLADING WORK WELL FOR ME?
-
- Oily skin : Microblading heals best on normal to dry skin types. Microblading may not work well on clients with more oily skin types or large pores. Increased oil production can cause hair strokes to blur and heal lighter and more powdery than you would expect
-
-
Mature skin: tends to be thinner and more delicate which may increase the likelihood of bleeding and loss of pigment
-
-
-
Darker skin: there may be less contrast and visibility detail in the strokes
-
-
-
Clients with thin skin or rosacea cannot receive microblading
-
-
Previously tattooed brows: previous tattooing must be nearly visible. Scar tissue with previous tattooing or tattoo removal may affect pigment retention.
PLEASE NOTE: If you had your eyebrows previously tattooed. I cannot guarantee results. Please email me a picture of your brows before booking.
